Find problems before they become outages.
Preventive maintenance from TechOneOps is a monthly check of your environment in a fixed structure: security, updates, backups and monitoring. Every month we also restore a selected backup to prove it works. You receive a written report with the evidence, so problems are found before they become outages.
Check blocks every month, adapted to your environment
Test restores a year, one selected backup every month
Written record of every check, with technical evidence
Most outages send warning signals first.
A disk that fills up a little more each week. A security patch that has been waiting for months. A backup job that stopped running after a configuration change. None of these causes an outage today. All of them can cause one next month.
Monitoring tells you when something is already wrong. Preventive maintenance looks for what is about to go wrong. We work through your environment on a regular schedule, fix what belongs to routine care and tell you clearly about anything that needs a decision.
It is the part of operations that small teams postpone because there is always something more urgent. With TechOneOps it happens every month, whether or not anything is on fire.
What we check every month
The monthly check is organised in four blocks. We tailor the details to your systems and add further checks where your environment needs them, for example certificates, DNS or application-specific services.
Security review
VPN and active users, database accounts, publicly reachable endpoints, allowed IP addresses and access rights. Accounts and openings that are no longer needed are found and closed.
Updates and patches
Security patches for the operating system and components. Before updating we take a snapshot, and we record versions before and after, so every change can be traced and rolled back.
Backups
Completeness of backups, storage outside the server, for example in object storage, backups of configuration and available storage capacity. Plus a test restore of a selected backup every month.
Monitoring and logs
CPU, memory and disk usage, health of services and anomalies in the logs. We look for trends, not only for alerts, so capacity problems are visible weeks in advance.
A backup only counts once it has been restored.
Many companies discover that their backups are incomplete on the day they need them. We do not leave that to chance.
Every month we restore a selected backup and verify that the data and services come back as expected. Over the year, the test covers the parts of your environment that matter most, such as databases, file storage and configuration.
The result goes into the monthly report. If a restore reveals a gap, we fix it as part of routine care or propose a solution for your approval.
- Proof that your backups can actually be restored, not just that they exist
- A realistic picture of how long recovery takes
- Gaps found during a quiet month, not during an incident
The monthly report
After each check you receive a written report: the date, who performed the check, and a table of what was checked, what was done and what we noticed. Each line is backed by technical evidence such as versions or command output.
Monthly preventive check
| Check | Done | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Security review | Yes | VPN users and database accounts match the authorised list. One unused test account removed. |
| Updates and patches | Yes | Snapshot taken before updating. Security patches installed, kernel and database versions recorded before and after. |
| Backups | Yes | All backup jobs completed, off-server copies present. Test restore of the database backup successful. |
| Monitoring and logs | Yes | Disk usage on the data volume has grown since the baseline. Capacity proposal listed under additional work. |
The example is illustrative. Your report reflects your own environment and the checks agreed with you.
Every check is compared with the baseline.
The entry audit records the state of your environment when we take it over. That record becomes the baseline. Each monthly check is compared with it, so the report does not only say what is fine today but also what has changed and which new deviations have appeared.
Over time you get a clear history: which risks have been resolved, what has drifted, and where the environment is heading. That makes conversations about priorities and budget much easier.
Additional work, agreed in advance
Routine care is part of the monthly service. Larger work is not added silently to your bill.
If a check shows that something needs more than routine care, for example a larger upgrade, an architecture change or an optimisation, we list it in a separate part of the report with our recommendation and an estimate. The work is billed separately and only starts once you have approved it.
The exception is urgent work during an ongoing incident, where restoring the service comes first.
Questions about preventive maintenance.
How long does a monthly check take, and will we notice it?
The effort depends on the size of the environment. Most checks run without any impact on your services. Work that needs a restart or a short interruption is announced at least 24 hours in advance and usually takes place outside business hours.
Which backup do you restore each month?
We agree a rotation with you so that the most important data and systems are covered over the year. The restore is done in a safe way that does not affect your production environment.
Do we need an audit before preventive maintenance starts?
Yes. The entry audit is part of taking over your environment. It creates the baseline that every monthly check is compared with.
Is preventive maintenance available without 24/7 support?
Monthly checks are part of our managed operations, and monitoring runs around the clock in every variant. You choose whether incidents are handled during business hours or 24/7.
What happens if a check finds a serious problem?
If it threatens your service, we treat it as an incident and act straight away. Otherwise it goes into the report with a priority and a proposed solution, and we agree the next steps with you.
Make problems visible while they are still small.
Tell us about your environment. We reply within one business day and show you in writing how monthly preventive care would work for it. No commitment.
